Terms of sale
Selling at a distance, from the United Kingdom, to people buying for themselves.
These terms cover the pieces listed for sale on this site. They also say what a valuation is worth when a piece is brought the other way, from a private owner to the company.
They are written for a buyer who is not buying for a business. Where the law gives you a right, these terms cannot take it away, and nothing below tries to.

The registered office is the company's legal address, and the address for formal notices. The entry at Companies House carries the same details.
Every piece is second-hand, and there is one of each
Twenty to thirty pieces are here at a time, and each one passes through once. When a piece is sold, its listing stays up and is marked Sold.
The photographs and the film on a listing are of that piece, taken here.
Every listing states the condition. Age leaves wear behind — a worn shank, a soft edge on an old cut, a repair made long ago — and that wear is described rather than polished out.
Where a piece has been altered or restored, and the company knows it, the listing says so.
Hallmarks and fineness
The mark is the law's way of saying what a metal is.
Under the Hallmarking Act 1973 an article sold in the United Kingdom as gold, silver, platinum or palladium has to carry a recognised hallmark, unless it falls under one of the weight exemptions the Act sets out.
The same Act requires anyone selling precious metals, online included, to display the British Hallmarking Council's Dealer's Notice. Version B, the one for sales made at a distance, is at the foot of every page of this site.

Prices and payment
One price, one piece, and the price stands until the piece goes.
The price shown on a listing belongs to that piece alone. There is one of it, and it carries one price.
An order is an offer to buy. The contract is made when the company accepts it in writing. If a piece has already gone, no contract is made and nothing is taken.

Delivery and insurance
One parcel, one piece, and who carries the risk on the way.
Until a piece reaches you, or reaches someone you named to receive it, the risk of loss or damage in transit stays with the company. That is the law's default, and it is not changed here.

Your right to cancel: 14 days, then 14 more
Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Buying at a distance, you have 14 days from the day the piece reaches you to change your mind. No reason has to be given.
Say so in writing within those 14 days. From the day you say it, there are 14 more days to send the piece back.
The law requires the price to be refunded, together with the basic cost of the original delivery. Where a piece has been handled beyond what was needed to examine it, the refund may be reduced to reflect that.
Write and say you are cancelling, within 14 days of receiving the piece.
Send the piece back within 14 days of writing.
The refund follows, once the piece is back or the proof of postage is seen.
Sending a piece back
Small parcels, high value: how they travel matters.
Send the piece as it arrived, with anything that came with it — a box, a certificate, a receipt.

A valuation is not an offer
The other direction: when you bring a piece to the company.
A figure given on photographs is a valuation. It binds neither side. It rests on what the photographs show, and a piece in the hand can read differently from a piece on a screen.
Nothing is agreed until both sides have put it in writing: which piece, at what figure. Until that moment the piece has not left your house, and you are free to walk away — as is the company, if the piece is not what the photographs suggested.
Take a second opinion before you sell. A figure means little on its own.

Your statutory rights, and complaints
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 goods must match their description and be fit to be used for what they are. A second-hand piece is judged against its own listing: its age, and the condition set out there.
If a piece arrives and it is not what the listing said, write to the company and say what is wrong, with a photograph if you can.
Nothing in these terms affects a right the law gives you.

Which law applies
Anna Diamonds BVBA Ltd is registered in England and sells from the United Kingdom.
A buyer living elsewhere keeps the protection of the consumer law of their own country: a contract cannot sign that away.
